Postgraduate Information Webinars
Each year we run conversion events in coordination with the leading convenors on all of our postgraduate taught programmes. This conversion activity is designed to provide prospective students with more information about specific programmes, connect with convenors who will be teaching the programmes, and have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about coming to study at the University of Glasgow.
On these pages you will find information and support around:
- Creating your webinar presentation
- Timeline for most webinars (exceptions being January start programmes)
- Email conversion activity, what emails get sent in relation to your programme and any input that the College of Arts Marketing Team may require from you
WEBINAR STRUCTURE
The webinar format we recommend is a split between a 15/20 minute presentation containing an overview of the programme, career prospects, dissertation or project and any other unique opportunities on the programme such as field trips etc., and then time for Q&A at the end. You might also want to consider involving current student/s to talk about their experience of the programme as we know prospective students like that peer-to-peer engagement. Please also be aware that the potential students attending the webinar will be a mix of enquirers, applicants and offer holders.
RECORDING PRESENTATIONS
We ask that convenors record the presentation element of the webinar so that we can then send the recording to anyone who cannot make the live event. You can find last year's recordings on our Postgraduate Information Hub page.
We ask that convenors record the presentation element of the event and to ask offer holders to refrain from asking questions until the end to allow us to utilise the recordings for on demand content. You can stop or pause recording at any time, please see guidance in the PGT Conversion 2022 Toolkit.
Please note that we do not ask convenors to record the Q&A portion of the webinar and that any recordings used for on demand content will be edited so as not to feature any student participation to ensure that we are compliant with data protection.
TIMELINE
Our peak conversion activity for most programmes is usually around March-June for September start programmes however this timeline can vary from programme to programme. We aim to host our conversion activity, emails, and events during this time frame the exception being January start programmes.
EMAIL ACTIVITY
As part of our recruitment activity the College of Arts Marketing Team send out emails to our offer holder's inviting them to our conversion events, chaser emails 1 hour and 1 day before each live event, and a catch up on the recording email after the live event. These are not standard looking emails our team specifically design and structure the email content to best appeal to our prospective audiences.
We liaise with all our convenors with regards to including content such as recording short welcome videos and reviewing text content for accuracy. You can see examples of previous emails below.
