Biography

Biography

I am a qualitative researcher with a background in global public health (MSc) and sexual and reproductive health. Much of my professional work to date has focused on young people’s sexual health and wellbeing. Prior to joining SPHSU, I worked in sexual health improvement, and as a relationships and sex education facilitator delivering workshops for young people in schools and other youth services.

As a researcher, I am particularly interested in using co-production and participatory approaches to work collaboratively with young people to coproduce research and action on sexual wellbeing.

Education

  • BA English Literature with a year abroad, University of Sussex
  • MSc Global Public Health and Policy, Queen Mary University London

Current role

I am currently based in the Relationships and Health programme at the Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (SPHSU). I work as Research Assistant on two projects focused on understanding and promoting young people’s sexual health and wellbeing - CONUNDRUM and Good Measure. In both projects, I have particular responsibility for young people’s participation and co-production, including supporting our Youth Advisory Groups.

From July 2023, I am working on a new initiative funded by Scottish Government to embed sexual wellbeing as a public health goal for Scotland. As part of this project, I will help to establish sustainable participatory mechanisms to embed young people’s involvement in the policymaking process to ensure their views and needs are meaningfully included.
